HAPPENINGS AROUND THE OREGON COAST

Whether you are looking to stay close to the Inn at Cape Kiwanda or wander further, we have the ideal home base for you right here in Pacific City, Oregon. Each season brings new Oregon Coast events, so be sure to check back often.

  • Neskowin Ghost Forest

    • When: Any time
    • Where: Neskowin public parking lot directly off Highway 101
    • What: Just a 20-minute drive south of the Inn at Cape Kiwanda lies one of the Oregon Coast’s most mysterious natural wonders: the Neskowin Ghost Forest. Here, ancient Sitka spruce stumps, believed to be nearly 2,000 years old, stand rooted in the sand, remnants of a massive earthquake or tsunami that buried the forest centuries ago. Revealed after a winter storm in the late 1990s, the eerie stumps emerge at low tide and offer a fascinating, otherworldly glimpse into the region’s geologic past.

    • Where: 9455 Kilchis River Rd, Tillamook, OR 97141
    • What: Kilchis River Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze is the largest corn maze on the Oregon Coast. Visit the patch and pick out the perfect pumpkin, squash, or gourd during weekends in October. • Where: Pacific City Beach, Oregon
    • What: Plan your trip to the Inn at Cape Kiwanda to coincide with the magnificent King Tides — the highest tides of the year, occurring when the sun and moon align to create stronger gravitational pulls on the Earth’s oceans. Along the Oregon Coast, these dramatic tides typically occur in winter and offer a striking view of the ocean’s power.
