Oregon’s North Coast is studded with places to go and sights to see for explorers of all ages. Our staff are locals who love this place. They can point you toward their favorite spots or simply provide the cruiser bikes and beach towels to enhance your outing.

CLOSE TO THE INN
  • Stroll into the lobby and grab a Linus cruiser bike for riding around town.
  • Grab a fresh-brewed coffee, homemade pastry or satisfying lunch at Stimulus Coffee + Bakery, located on the Inn’s ground floor.
  • Step out back to pick up a colorful kite at Catch the Wind, then let it fly on the beach.
  • Meet up with family and friends at Pelican Brewing Company across the street for beers on the beach, delicious pub food and unmatched ocean views.
  • Head straight to the beach to watch (or join) the surfers, and the dory boats, build sandcastles or roast marshmallows over a beach bonfire.
  • Share an ocean-to-table meal and enjoy custom cocktails at Meridian Restaurant & Bar while you watch the waves crash into Cape Kiwanda.
  • Book a massage or facial at Tidepools Spa and arrive early for a soak in the outdoor hot tub before your treatment.
  • Race your friends or kids up the Cape’s 240-foot dune then keep exploring Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area for more breathtaking views of the North Coast.

AROUND THE AREA
  • Saddle up for professional guided horseback rides with Green Acres Beach & Trail Rides and saunter through Bob Straub State Park and along Pacific City’s coastline.
  • Rent a traditional or Hobie kayak or a stand-up paddleboard from Nestucca Adventures right beside the beautiful Nestucca River.
  • Grab your binoculars and trail shoes and head for the Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge, home to more than 100 bird species, as well as elk, amphibians, salmon and trout.
  • Visit Munson Creek Falls State Natural Site to watch the tallest waterfall in the Coast Range come tumbling down.
  • Start the Three Capes Scenic Loop in downtown Tillamook for a 40-mile drive that touches three stunning state parks: Cape Meares, Cape Lookout, then back to our own Cape Kiwanda.
  • From the South Neahkahnie Mountain Trailhead, hike a kid-friendly out and back trail with views of the beach, the ocean, Manzanita and the Nehalem Bay Mouth.

    WHAT: Hidden under the mighty Pacific along the jagged Oregon shores is a secret world inhabited by legions of unusual creatures. Visible only when the tides retreat, the treasures of the Cape Kiwanda’s tidepools go unseen by most visitors. Join us for a unique opportunity to encounter the Purple Rock Crab, the prehistoric Sculpin, and scores of Ochre Sea Stars–and perhaps even a Giant Pacific Octopus.

    Supermoon Dune Hike

    WHEN: 8:00pm – 9:30pm on Saturday, March 9

    WHERE: Meet at the Headlands Adventure Center

    WHAT: Supermoons occur when the moon travels close to Earth on its elliptical path; on these nights the moon appears brighter and larger than any other time of year. Our Adventure Coaches will lead the way up our beloved dune on this special moonlit hike. Once on top, enjoy house-made hot chocolate and a picturesque display of the moonlit seascape. Join us for the best vantage point, atop Oregon’s highest dune, for this celestial delight.

    Duration: 1.5 hour

    Difficulty: Moderate

    What is included: Adventure Coach, water, house-made hot chocolate

    What to bring: Waterproof layers, Camera/phone

    March Beach Clean-up

    WHEN: 9:30am – 11:00pm on Sunday, March 9

    WHERE: Meet at the Headlands Adventure Center

    WHAT: At Headlands, we take stewardship of our natural areas seriously. Feeling fortunate to have a world-class coastline to call home, we reserve a special love for our beach.

    In 2019 Headlands offered a pint from Pelican Brewing for every Barrel Bag returned with collected trash. In 2020 they will be continuing their partnerships with Barrel Bag and Pelican Brewing, as well as hosting monthly community beach clean-ups. Come take part, the last Sunday of each month, and share in their love of this special place.

    All are welcome, hot chocolate and coffee to follow.

    Pacific City Birding & Blues Festival

    WHEN: April 17 – 19, 2020

    WHERE: Kiawanda Community Center

    WHAT: Lose your blues and take flight once again! After a one-year hiatus, the Pacific City Birding and Blues Festival is planning a return in 2020. The festival will return April 17-19 for its 15th year.

    Event headquarters will be at Kiawanda Community Center, 34600 Cape Kiwanda Dr., Pacific City. With the support of Visit Tillamook Coast as well as an experienced team of Birding & Blues volunteers, the festival is being hailed by organizers as a celebration of the natural resources of the area.
