What: Join volunteers in preserving our beaches by removing litter and plastic debris. Winter storms bring the most trash ashore, and removing it now prevents it from breaking into harmful microplastics that enter the food chain. Together, we can protect marine life and our environment. All ages are welcome to enjoy the beach and make a positive impact. Organizers of this annual event celebrate their birthdays by cleaning up our beach.

What: Each winter, more than 20,000 gray whales pass by the Oregon Coast on their annual migration south from Alaska to Baja Mexico—and you don't have to be out on the water to witness this amazing event; you can see them while standing on the beach or at the top of Cape Kiwanda Dune. Oregon State Park whale watching weeks will be scheduled during prime migration weeks in late December and late March.
